The AI & Equality community is organizing an inaugural Festival of Ideas (May 21-22, 2026, online).
This global, community-led festival will be a space to share disruptive and novel ideas, and to collectively examine the power dynamics of this moment.
Since 2023, AI & Equality has grown into a transnational online network of 750+ researchers, activists, and technologists spanning 57 countries. This virtual Festival brings our community together to move from critique to creation; prototyping the alternatives we need for a just technological future.
Our community, a global network of over 750 researchers, activists, and technologists—confronts the diverse ways in which AI intersects with societal structures. We recognize that the “code” is never neutral; it is a site of political and social contestation. From interrogating the biases of Large Language Models (LLMs) to advocating for transparency in automated decision-making, our mission is to invent the different perspectives necessary for a just technological future.
The AI & Equality community was established in 2023 as a transnational, multi-disciplinary platform dedicated to reconciling the rapid evolution of algorithmic systems with the fundamental tenets of human rights. As we navigate a landscape of shifting technological modalities, our work seeks to move beyond narrow “ethics” toward a human rights-based AI, where inclusion is treated as a core architectural requirement rather than a secondary feature.
