Involving affected communities – or stakeholders – throughout the development process of AI systems is key to our Human Rights-based approach. In this Open Studio, Emma Kallina will guide you through our new stakeholder module. It focuses on the key aspects of meaningful stakeholder involvement, including who counts as a stakeholder and when.
Building on her PhD research at the University of Cambridge, she will introduce different types of stakeholder involvement, ranging from commercially-oriented practices to types of involvement that are suitable to achieve more responsible, Human Rights-respecting AI systems. For the latter, we will discuss the steps required for such involvement, current bottlenecks and barriers, as well as available tools that support this process. The main goal of the session is to equip you with the knowledge required to recognise stakeholder involvement that mainly focuses on commercial interests from the type of stockholder involvement that we need to advance more equitable and safe systems and help you to implement the latter in own projects
