AI and Equality

The Library

A growing body of work on the hardest questions in AI and human rights, talks, interventions and essays from a global, multidisciplinary community.

This is where the community’s thinking lives. Not a feed to keep up with, but a collection to draw on: recorded sessions, formal interventions into the bodies shaping AI governance, and published essays.

It spans disciplines and continents, and it keeps growing.

Festival of Ideas

Talks from the inaugural 2026 Festival, a free, global gathering with sessions led by partners on five continents, on what AI is doing to rights, labour, language, land and democracy, with a deliberate focus on voices from the Global South.

Sessions include: community-led AI in Malawi, the Philippines and Kenya; African-language NLP; the hidden labour and land behind AI; a citizens’ track for AI governance; algorithmic harm to agency and governance across the Global South.

Open Studios & Webinars

An archive of ongoing series: Open Studios, research presentations followed by open discussion, Webinars and Book Talks, conversations with authors writing on AI and equality. A standing record, browseable any time.

Policy interventions

Formal community comments submitted to the bodies shaping AI governance, OHCHR, UNESCO, and the UN’s work on AI panels and the digital compact. Where the community puts a human rights-based position on the record.

Recent: a comment to OHCHR on AI, cultural rights and the right to development; input on AI and the SDGs; comment on the UN’s international scientific AI panel; a response to UNESCO on AI regulation.

Re-Visions of Now and Future

A series of essay volumes written by participants of the AI & Equality course, perspectives from many disciplines on the AI world we want to live in.

The Library grows as the community works. To take part in what comes next, find the community.

We’re creating a global community that brings together individuals passionate about inclusive, human rights-based AI.
